Professor Johnson Onyibe
Johnson Onyibe is a Professor at one of Africa’s largest university – the Ahmadu Bello Universities (ABU), Nigeria. He has 30 years of diversified service experience building partnerships with national, international groups and fostering collaborative achievement of objectives for competitive and sustainable economic growth across Africa. Keenly focused on innovations through emerging science and technological advancements. His credentials include Ph.D. & M.Sc. in Agriculture, MBA in Agric-Finance & Investment (Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria), MPA in Public Affairs (Maxwell School, Syracuse University, USA), and other certificates in program leadership and agricultural systems management
Professor Onyibe has had multiple engagements with global lead institutions. For four years, he served as Country Coordinator at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture(IITA), Lead Consultant (PERL-ARC), Department of Foreign and International Development (DFID), Consultant, Council for Agricultural Research and Development of West and Central Africa (CORAF), and Project Leader, Staple, and Cash Crops Product Development for the Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX). He is the Technical Adviser to Nigeria Seed Industry. Recently, he was a Co-Chair, Committee on Seed Sector Reform of the Government of Nigeria. Earlier, he served as the Director of Research and Planning for eight years at the National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison service (ABU) promoting cutting-edge research and development. His current interest is on strengthening development Institutions in Africa, scaling best bet practices, and building collaborative governance regimes to address wicked problems of hunger and poverty.
