Dr. Konjit Hailu

Konjit Hailu is a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Maastricht University (MU), the Netherlands, where she is part of a project titled “Women, Work and Wellbeing in Ethiopia – the 3WE Project”. She is also a collaborator in two other international research projects, viz. International Study of Work and Family (ISWAF) and a savings group for Africa (SG4Africa). Konjit concurrently holds an Assistant Professor position at the School of Commerce, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, where she has been engaged in teaching and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate programs since 2006.

She has widely published in the areas of women entrepreneurship, work-life interface experiences, wellbeing, savings groups and the like with a particular emphasis on Ethiopia and other parts of Africa. Over the years, Konjit presented research papers at a number of international conferences and had the opportunity to work in committees, organize international conferences, workshops/training sessions, research symposia and other similar events establishing a solid academic and professional network regionally and internationally.

Konjit is a recipient of the 2014 Addis Ababa University President’s award for “Emerging Faculty Scholar” category as a young scholar with outstanding contribution. She obtained her PhD from Tilburg University, the Netherlands, and MBA and BSc from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.
